Robert E. Lee High School Wrestling Team Banquet
April 26, 1995
Twenty six years of Lee High School Wrestling 1969 thru 1995

Seniors-1994-95

Chad Cameron
(125, 135, 145, 160)
Chad has lettered three out of the four years he has been on the Lee High wrestling team. In those four years Chad has won 114 matches with his best season coming during his senior year. He has been team captain for two years, he set season records for most wins in a season . with 50 victories, most takedowns (118) in a season, most escapes (53) in a season and most points toward lettering in a season. Chad won seven major tournaments, including the Lee Invitational, (the first Lee wrestler to win since 1991), the Baton Rouge City Tournament and the Region III tournament. He was selected first team All-Metro by the Baton Rouge Coaches Association. Chad has qualified for the State Tournament for three years in a row and he placed fifth twice in state competition.
Chad has been to wrestling camps in Pennsylvania and New York for two summers along with competing in the Junior Nationals in North Dakota this past summer. He has been the team leader all season long and has been an inspiration to the younger wrestlers on the team. He never questioned anything that was asked of him, pushing others to greater heights, leading by example.  Chad will be missed.

Chris Jones (145, 145, 151)
Chris has been on the team for three years and has lettered for the first time his senior year. Chris did not wrestled varsity a lot due to others on the team, but Chris worked hard in practice and never seemed to complain. He wanted to do anything that was for the good of the team. Chris gained some strength during the off season before his senior year which helped him a great deal.  Chris had 13 wins this season while placing 5th at the Tiger Invitational and 5th at the Regional III tournament.

John Cameron
(1990-95)
A special thanks goes out to "Mr. John" for all the help he has given to the Lee High Wrestling program the past 6 seasons (Justin & Chad). John used his wrestling experience rolling around in the practice room many times during those six years helping kids on the team with technique and/or mental encouragement. John has been in the corner chairs at numerous tournaments coaching and calling out holds and moves to Lee wrestlers. A BIG THANKS to a good friend, we will miss you!!

The wrestling team for the 1994-95 season finished 6-4 in dual meets and placed fifth or better in six out of 10 tournaments this year. The bright spots of the season were finishing second in the City Tournament (up from 4th the previous year) and placing second in the Regional Tournament. This season we had nine wrestlers place high enough in the Regions to qualify for the state tournament held at UNO in New Orleans. This year we had five wrestlers to win over thirty matches in a season, more than ever before.

1994-95 Rebel Wrestling Team

The team was made up of a good mix of classes: two seniors, six juniors, six sophomores, and seven freshmen.
The team looked to Captain Chad Cameron for its leadership during the season and Chad will- ingly provided the necessary leadership for this team. Chad was a good vocal leader plus he lead by example as well, winning 50 matches, and seven of the major tournaments this year. Chad placed fifth at state. Juniors Keitric Barber, Scott Boutte and Tim LaTour all improved over last year with a combined winning mark of 116 victories. These three also combine to reach the finals 21 times in tournaments over the year. Keitric won four tournaments and was runner-up in five others, Tim (4th place in state meet-highest finish on the team) won four tournaments and was a finalist in three others, while Scott (5th in state) won two tournaments and placed second in three others. Sophomore Chad Cedotal had 31 wins and was a finalist in two tournaments, Jonathan

Ocmond, a junior was first in the regional tournament and named OW by the Regional coaches.

The year was full of pleasant surprises as many of the younger wrestlers really came through when we needed them plus gaining valuable experience along the way. Freshman Derrin Irwin, and sophomores Aaron Washington and Brian Gar- land all developed during the season and will be looked to for great things in the future. Freshman heavyweight Seth Overall took his lumps this year but gained the needed experience to have a great future for the next three years.
One freshman, three sophomore, four juniors and one senior all qualified for the state tournament and with two place winners returning, should form a strong nucleus for next year. Others to be counted on for next season will be two year letter- man Mike Gabel, one year letterman Nick De- muro, squadmen Shaun Ocmond, Garen Grashot, Victor Womack, Daniel Hudson, Sam LeBlanc, David Torres and Simon Vixathep.

It's been said many times to our wrestlers but nothing can be closer to the truth: Champions are made (not born) during the off season (March thru October). "Many have the will to win; few have the will to prepare to win. "
