Wrestling: Holy Cross cruises to dual meet win at Shaw |

TIGERS CONTINUE DOMINANT RUN
Holy Cross remains a prime contender, make that the favorite, for state honors in Division II wrestling in 2013. In a dual meet Wednesday night at the Shaw Gym, the Tigers handled the Eagles, 53-16. The Tigers won 10-of-12 matches contested, including six by pin.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Beau Bush at 106 pounds, who scored a lightning-quick pin of Zach Collins of the Eagles in just 14 seconds. Other Holy Cross wrestlers to win by fall were Dylan Soileau (113), Alex Nicosia (120), Collin Guerra (126), Nick Bonck (132) and Michael Yeatman (220).
The highlight for Shaw was at 285 pounds, where Jay Driggers pinned Jordan Showalter at the end of the first period. The best match of the evening saw David Oliver of Holy Cross edge Max Chambers of Shaw 7-6 at 145 pounds.
Holy Cross moves on to host the Tiger Duals this weekend, a Division II measuring stick which will feature other top Division II programs with Live Oak, Parkway and St. Louis Catholic. The Tigers have already beaten defending Division II state champion Teurlings Catholic in a head-to-head match, beating them 46-30 at Northside in Lafayette last weekend. Other top contenders in Division II include St. Michael's, Northside, Belle Chasse and Grace King.
At this point, all contenders appear to be looking up at Holy Cross.
