The bouts began at 138 pounds and Rummel got off to a fast start.
Joe Kerry of the Raiders caught Gaston Eymard with an excellent counter move to score a fall in the third period at the 4:54 mark. At 145 pounds, Rummel's Tyler Frame followed with a solid 6-1 win over Efosa Eboige of Jesuit.
The Jays then got on track and won the next five matches.
Ashton Queyrouze downed Cody Lacoste of Rummel 10-5 at 152 pounds before Guy Patron of the Blue Jays pinned Rummel's Guillermo Suarez in the first period at the 1:49 mark to even the match.
Jesuit continued its run at 170 pounds. In a battle of highly-ranked wrestlers, Jimmy Brown downed Michael Darwin of the Raiders 7-3. At 182 pounds, Gage Grush pinned Rummel's Aaron Maddox in the second period at the 3:05 mark before Manny Armour pinned Rummel's Brandon Leon in the second period at the 2:20 mark. Leon was in for Ryan Hanley, who was ill.
Rummel stopped the bleeding at 220 pounds as Tyler Fontana was impressive, scoring a 5-2 victory over Jesuit's Tyler Fontana but Jesuit's Zach Creel then took care of Austin O' Donnell 4-1 at 285 pounds.
In the best match of the evening, Jesuit's Nicky Charles surprised Rummel's Devyn Breaud at 106 pounds, scoring a takedown in overtime to win 4-2. Top-ranked Mitch Capella of Jesuit won by forfeit at 113 pounds to put the match away.
Rummel closed strongly as Tyler Mire, returning from a shoulder injury, defeated Max Grosh of Jesuit 109-4 at 120 pounds, defending state champion Matt Calcote handles Jesuit's Will LaFranca 12-4 at 126 pounds and Rick LaCava of the Raiders won a 15-4 major decision over Jackie Robinson of the Blue Jays to bring the final score to 36-22.
Jesuit head coach Spencer Harris was not in attendance to see his team wrestle well. Jesuit won seven of the 13 matches contested. The points differential came through three pins and the forfeit. Jesuit will compete in the St. Paul's Invitational this weekend while Rummel returns to action with a dual meet against John Curtis at Rummel next Wednesday.
