Pearl River tallied a 5-0 record with 12 pins to
be crowned champion of the Belle Duals Tournament held Saturday.
Hahnville and John Ehret were second and third respectively, both
finishing 5-0, but the Rebels won the tiebreaker of total pins.
Hahnville posted 11, while Ehret had nine in the 10-team meet.
Belle Chasse was fourth at 2-3, while Grace King (2-1-2) rounded out the
top five. Also locally, Northshore was eighth at 0-4-1.
Pearl River defeated Northshore 66-12.
Thomas Tucker (120-pound weight class) recorded a
pin for the Rebels. Justin Kass (138) and Jacob Spohrer (195) both took
decisions 7-2 and 10-4 respectively. Spohrer is 18-6. Northshore’s
Ray Dupuy (132) and Aaron Shafor (160) both pinned their opponent.
Pearl River downed Helen Cox 78-5.
PRHS defeated Thomas Jefferson 57-24. Jarrett
Simmons (145) and Tyler de Bram (152) both had pins, while Tyler Lawshé
(126) was victorious in an 11-4 decision.
Pearl River was victorious over Grace King 48-34,
as the Rebels put up five pins. Lawshé, Kass, de Bram, Allen
Blanchard (160) and Brent Bourgeois (220) had the pins. Bourgeois is
25-8.
PRHS was victorious over East Jefferson 66-15
behind five pins. Tucker, Lawshé, de Bram, Christian Breedlove
(170) and Tyler Heberling (285) all pinned their opponent for the
Rebels.
Northshore lost to Hahnville 60-18. Shafor,
Samal Bautista (138) and Dustin Rupple (195) logged pins for Northshore.
The Panthers suffered a 42-24 setback against Chalmette with Rupple
pinning his opponent. They lost to John Ehret 54-18 with Dupuy
tallying a pin.
NHS tied East Jefferson 30-30.
