Dutchtown High wrestlers won the cup at the 2013 meet.

On Saturday, the Spartans started slow against St. Amant, winning two matches in the first five weight classes. The Spartans rebounded, winning in the next six of seven weight classes.

EA defeated St. Amant, 40-33. Winners included Matt Ashford, Dee Jackson, Koi Malarcher, Austin Guedry, Conor Karwath, Alex Betteridge, Landon Wheat and Jacob Bernard.

Facing Dutchtown in the finals, the Spartan wrestling team once again found themselves behind in the score 31-13, winning three of the first nine weight classes.

The Spartans picked up momentum to go undefeated in the next few rounds.

Heavyweight Conor Karwath pinned Dutchtown’s Blake Pachecko which began a 5 match win streak ending with Matt Ashford’s overtime win against Austin Blades.

EA defeated Dutchtown, 43-31 to win the cup.

Spartan winners in the final meet included Nicholas Richard, Logan Mire, Adam Bosworth, Conor Karwath, Alex Betteridge, Landon Wheat, Jacob Bernard and Matt Ashford.
