The last name, Clapp, carries with it a high level of athletic tradition and success. Brother Martin currently has three brothers, William, a senior, Jacob, a sophomore, and the youngest, Matthew, who is a freshman. Their father Tommy was a defensive standout more than 30 years ago, and went on to a stellar career at LSU in the early 1980’s and then on to the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The oldest, William, who is one of the top offensive line prospects in the state and in the nation, committed to Les Miles and LSU. Jacob is an up and coming wrestler in the 220-pound class with Matthew not too far away. In fact, during the first day of competition, they were competing at the same time on mats next to each other. “We’ve always had a healthy competition between us,” Jacob said. “Whenever one of us isn’t competing, we’re always pulling for each other.”
