Belle Chasse's two No. 1 seeds didn't disappoint. Robert Kennedy and Logan Thompson advanced to the semifinals Friday after pinning every opponent along the way.

Thompson had a bye in the first round and pinned his second round opponent approximately three and a half minutes into the match.

Kennedy pinned his first opponent, Rayne's Mason Benoit, in 35 seconds and followed that performance by pinning Sam Houston's Nicholas Breaux in 47 seconds.

Cardinals Coach Mike Appelt said he was pleased with his team's overall performance on the first day of the championships.  "Our two No. 1 seeds made it to the semis, which we expected," Appelt said. "We have three or four freshmen, they all won in the consolations.

"We are a young team and we are still developing but our two seniors... they are right where they need to be."

He added that he hopes Thompson and Kennedy are able to advance to the finals.

PUTTING IN WORK: Live Oak is a power in Division II and having wrestlers like Cody Hill certainly helps maintain that status. Counting his second round victory against Shaw's Peyton Matherne, Hill has compiled an impressive 74-4 record this season.

Hill competes in the 126-pound class and his win total is the most of any wrestler in the tournament.
