This past weekend was a stellar championship weekend, with broken records and unprecedented performances in wrestling and indoor track.
Brusly's wrestling team dominated the competition in the weekend's state tournament. The Panthers scored a composite score of 343.5, beating the previous LHSAA team score record of 339 set by Brother Martin.
Brother Martin took the Division I wrestling title, marking the third straight wrestling title for the Crusaders.
In indoor track and field, Catholic-Baton Rouge did not just defend its state championship Saturday at LSU's Carl Maddox Fieldhouse, the Bears owned the night, scoring 92 points, with St. Paul's and Karr finishing behind Catholic with 33 points apiece. The championship marks the eighth consecutive title for Catholic-Baton Rouge.
Episcopal's Jeremiah Mayes set a Division II record for the indoor high jump with a 6-07.5. That mark beat Curtis standout athlete Malachi's Dupre's record of 6-07.25 he set last year.
