Armed with another brilliant team, three-time defending state champion Brother Martin opened its 2014-2015 season with a pair of dual meet victories this past Friday night in Katy, Texas.

The Crusaders blanked host Katy High 66-0 and blasted Strake Jesuit 67-3.

On Saturday, the Crusaders backed up their dominating performance of Friday at the Cinco Ranch Invitational, breaking the tournament record they established in 2012 by scoring 312.5 points and winning the event by 124 points.

The Crusaders placed 12 wrestlers in the finals and claimed eight individual titles. Those taking home first place included Steven Shields, Stephen Rumney, Paul Klein, Blaine Elsensohn, Seth Johnson, Daniel Evans, Yehia Riles and Travis Viener. Finishing second were Luke Cotton, Taylor Gambill, Kevin Casey & Matthew Montalbano. Third place finishers were Brad Guidry & Mark Kingsbery. Johnson was selected as Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.

Brother Martin returns to action on Wednesday in a three-way dual meet against Brusly and East Ascension at East Ascension.
