Brother Martin opens wrestling slate with pair of
wins in Texas

Armed with another brilliant team, three-time defending
state champion Brother Martin opened its 2014-2015 season with a pair of
dual meet victories this past Friday night in Katy, Texas.
The Crusaders blanked host Katy High 66-0 and blasted
Strake Jesuit 67-3.
On Saturday, the Crusaders backed up their dominating
performance of Friday at the Cinco Ranch Invitational, breaking the
tournament record they established in 2012 by scoring 312.5 points and
winning the event by 124 points.
The Crusaders placed 12 wrestlers in the finals and
claimed eight individual titles. Those taking home first place included
Steven Shields, Stephen Rumney, Paul Klein, Blaine Elsensohn, Seth Johnson,
Daniel Evans, Yehia Riles and Travis Viener. Finishing second were Luke
Cotton, Taylor Gambill, Kevin Casey & Matthew Montalbano. Third place
finishers were Brad Guidry & Mark Kingsbery. Johnson was selected as Most
Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
Brother Martin returns to action on Wednesday in a
three-way dual meet against Brusly and East Ascension at East Ascension.
