St. Paul’s Arms, Campo win tournament titles; Wolves finish eighth as a team

St. Paul’s wrestlers senior
Chris Arms and junior Connor Campo kept their unbeaten streaks alive at the
Louisiana Classic Wrestling Tournament held last weekend in Baton Rouge. Arms
(52-0) captured the 170-pound title, while Campo (45-0) took the 126-pound crown
helping the Wolves to an eighth place finish (116) in the 39-team field.
St. Paul’s James Cavaliere earned a fourth place finish in the 160-pound
category, while teammate Chris Meraux came in sixth competing at 113 pounds.
Catholic of Baton Rouge (212.5) won the Louisiana Classic team title followed by
the Brother Martin Crusaders (204.5), while the Archbishop Rummel Raiders (172)
took third. Hoover, Ala., (165.5) came in fourth with the Jesuit Blue Jays
(156.5) rounding out the top five.
Mandeville and Northshore also
competed in the Louisiana Classic finishing in 23rd and 24th place respectively.
Arms and Campo have come home with first place prizes in the Trey Culotta
Tournament, The Mandeville Open, The George Trygg Tournament, The Louisiana
Classic and The Spartan Invitational. The Wolves’ wrestlers traveled to Atlanta
this weekend to compete in the Prep School Slam.
