Stanley Rauch Memorial Wrestling Tournament

December 3rd, 2011

Archbishop Shaw High School

With great honor we are able to host this great event for the first time. Stanley Rauch began his teaching career in the late 1960’s at Martin Behrman High School and later moved on to O. P. Walker in Algiers. He then moved on to Archbishop Shaw High School where he spent over 20 years. While at Shaw he served in the social studies department, teaching American History and 20th Century American History. Mr. Rauch was involved in numerous clubs and organizations at Shaw, though he supported the athletic teams as well. To list Mr. Rauch’s involvement at Shaw.

-          Key Club

-          Student Government Organization

-          Provided soft drinks to the players following each football game

-          Rewarded a group of Shaw Seniors with a Cancun trip every May

-          Sponsored intramural athletic teams

For Mr. Rauch it was always about the kids and he proved that through his daily actions. His students were provided with lessons that will last a lifetime and more importantly a friendship that is irreplaceable. Those of us who knew him well know that he never wanted credit or publicity for his generous acts. We take great pleasure hosting this event in his memory.

We would like to thank all who generously put in their time to aid in putting on this event. Also we thank to the guest schools that are joining us today for this event.
